Why a dad wrote an app for bedtime.
Timistories wasn’t born in a boardroom. It was born at 9pm, in a kid’s bedroom, with a tired dad and two boys asking for a story.
The 9pm ritual
Adam is 5, Ilyes is 2. Every night, the same ask: “Daddy, a story.” Never the same one, never an agreement on which. For months I improvised — often badly, always tired, out of ideas at the exact moment I needed them. And yet those ten minutes were the most important of their whole day.
What actually works
I noticed one thing: my boys settled when the story was about them — when their little brother was in it, when the neighbor’s dog made an appearance, when they recognized their own world. After fifteen years building software for businesses, I wanted to put that idea in an app: a different story every night, with the real people in their life, ready in two minutes.
Why no ads, no data
I’ve seen from the inside how attention gets monetized. I didn’t want any of that in my kids’ bedroom. No investors to repay, so no pressure to collect or resell anything. No ads, no child account, no child data sold. You pay for the app — and that’s the only thing you pay.
